A Word of Hope

21 December • How to Welcome Christ: A Story of Courage from Cameroon | 4th Sunday of Advent

"You shall name him Emmanuel, which means God is with us."

For the 4th Sunday of Advent, Father Brendan Curran, OP, reflects on the Gospel of Matthew and St. Joseph’s decision to take Mary and Jesus into his home. But what does it mean to take Christ into *our homes today, especially in a world filled with conflict?

Father Brendan shares a powerful story from the **Dominican Month of Peace**, focusing on a community of Dominican nuns in Cameroon. Living in a dangerous "red zone" controlled by paramilitary troops, these 23 nuns have courageously opened their monastery doors to offer refuge to families fleeing violence. Their bravery is a living testament to the true meaning of Emmanuel—God is with us, even in the most precarious situations.

Join us for this Word of Hope as we prepare our hearts and homes for the birth of Jesus.

🌍 In this video, we explore:

  • St. Joseph’s dream and the name "Emmanuel."
  • The Dominican Month of Peace.
  • The crisis in Cameroon and the courage of Dominican nuns.
  • How to be a "Word of Hope" in a thirsting world.
