Join Us in Prayer
At this time of great sadness in the Catholic community following the shooting at Annunciation Church in Minneapolis, we grieve as a Province with all who are suffering.
I ask that you join me in lifting the Annunciation Church community in prayer now and in the days and months ahead. Let us pray for the two children whose lives were taken and their heartbroken families, healing for those injured, fortitude and perseverance for Annunciation’s pastor, Fr. Dennis Zehren, and Annunciation’s principal, Mr. Matthew DeBoer. We also pray in thanksgiving for the first responders and medical personnel as well as courage for our country’s leaders to work to address the epidemic of gun violence.
On Wednesday, Archbishop Bernard Hebda shared at a press conference that “we must be men and women of hope. Through prayers and ‘prayers of the feet’ – our action – we can be a source of hope for others.” Archbishop Hebda went on to say that he has been so grateful to witness the “prayers of the feet” that are already impacting those directly affected.
At Mass this Sunday, let us remember the victims and all affected by this tragedy. Let us also look for opportunities to implement “prayers of the feet” as we minister to those most in need.
St. Dominic and St. Jude, pray for us.
