Welcome to A Word of Hope for Friday of the 25th Week in Ordinary Time. Fr. Scott Steinkerchner reflects on an interesting pairing of readings. The first is the familiar "To everything there is a season" from Qoheleth (Ecclesiastes). The second is Peter's confession in the Gospel of Luke: "You are the Christ of God."
Why did Jesus tell his disciples not to tell anyone? Fr. Scott looks at the "messianic secret" and what it means for our own spiritual lives. There is a time to understand, and sometimes a time to wait for understanding. The questions of faith we can't answer today still matter. When the time comes, something will happen or you'll meet someone who can help you understand.
