Title Suggestion: “God, You Promised”: Praying with King David & Mary’s Magnificat | A Word of Hope

---

Description:

Hello and welcome to A Word of Hope for Thursday of the 3rd Week in Ordinary Time.
I’m Fr. Scott Steinkerchner, O.P., coming to you from St. Michael’s Seminary in Kingston, Jamaica.

In today’s reflection, we pray with King David in 2 Samuel as he responds to God’s astonishing promise of a lasting dynasty. David’s humble question—“Who am I, Lord God?”—becomes a model of gratitude and awe at God’s unearned grace. Yet David doesn’t stop there; he boldly turns God’s promise into a daring prayer: “You, Lord God, have promised… so do it.”

We then connect David’s prayer to Mary’s Magnificat, another great song of blessing from someone small in the world’s eyes but chosen by God. Where Mary proclaims what God has done for the lowly, David teaches us another side of faith-filled prayer: asking God to fulfill today what He has already promised.

This video invites you to claim that same boldness in your own vocation and commitments—to stand before God and say with faith:
“Lord, You promised. Be with me now. Help me do what You have called me to do.”

Like, subscribe, and share this reflection if it encourages you to pray with greater trust and honesty before God.
