17 December • The O Antiphons & The Genealogy of Jesus

Remote video URL

Welcome to "A Word of Hope" for Wednesday, December 17th, in the Third Week of Advent. Today marks a significant shift in the season as we begin the "O Antiphons," a novena of sorts leading us directly to Christmas.

In this reflection, we examine the spiritual "bookends" of today’s readings. We look back at the prophecy of Jacob to his son Judah, and we look forward through the Gospel of Matthew’s genealogy of Jesus. While these long lists of names can seem intimidating or dry, they are actually the roadmap of salvation history. Each name represents a moment in time where God’s promise was kept and His hope was alive.

Join us as we reflect on how God is not a God of abstract concepts, but a God of action and wisdom who breaks into human history to offer us justice, mercy, and love.
