Discover the Dominican Rosary
As our Province's Promoter of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary, I am honored to reach out to you on this Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary! October is an especially exciting month for the Rosary in our Province. A new course I developed in collaboration with the Word on Fire Institute will begin release on October 13, with new sessions released weekly through December 1. The course offers fresh insights into this prayer. Click here to enjoy a free 30-day membership and to explore the full course at your own pace.
Many of you may be already familiar with the profound relationship between Dominicans and the Rosary. Indeed, the Rosary as we know it today, both its mysteries and structure has evolved at every stage through intimate connection to the Dominican Order. Because of this close connection, Dominicans have been entrusted with the administration of the Rosary Confraternity, essentially the official rosary group of the Church, from its inception. Historically, the faithful have sought membership in the Rosary Confraternity in order to share in the Order's special closeness to the Blessed Virgin Mary. This bond offers a privileged pathway to encounter Mary as intercessor and guide, as she is for our Order. You can share closeness within our Province by joining the Confraternity; to enroll, please click here.
This summer, we launched a tour of sites in the Province where the friars are without a foothold; in all of these places, we promoted the Rosary as a means to draw near to Our Lady as Queen and Mother and shared the special Dominican connection to the Rosary. If you'd like me to visit your parish or area to lead a Rosary event, workshop, or talk, we'd love to hear from you. Feel free to contact me at rosary@opcentral.org.
During this Month of the Rosary, let's all draw closer to Our Lord through intimacy with Our Lady.
Wishing you abundant blessings from Our Lady of the Rosary.
Fr. James Pierce Cavanaugh, OP
