Due to the great devotion St. Martin of Porres has among Puerto Rican people, ten years before his canonization, the Dutch Dominicans erected a Shrine in the northern coast of Puerto Rico, in the port city of Cataño. Faithful from all over the Island come in pilgrimage every year for the three main feasts celebrated in the Shrine: St. Dominic's Solemnity in August, St. Martin de Porres Solemnity in November, and the Anniversary of his canonization in May. The Society of St. Martin de Porres congregates devotees in Puerto Rico and the mainland US who keep in contact with the Shrine through their prayers and financial support.
