🙏 A Word of Hope – Thursday, 8 October 2026 | Thursday of the 27th Week in Ordinary Time

"Oh stupid Galatians!" – not exactly a gentle opening line from St. Paul! In today's episode, Fr. Justus Pokrzewinski, OP, reflects on the readings for Thursday of the 27th Week in Ordinary Time: St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians and the Gospel of St. Luke.

Jesus tells the parable of a man who receives a visitor at midnight with no food in the house – and no pizza shops around! He knocks on the baker's door until his persistence finally wins him the bread he needs. But what is Jesus really teaching? That we should "bother" the Father. God wants to give us far more than bread – He wants to give us the Bread of Life.

Ever asked for something in prayer and not received it? Fr. Justus reminds us: just keep asking. God isn't a candy machine that dispenses everything instantly – He wants us to seek Him, know Him and love Him along the way.

✨ Key Takeaways
• Luke's Gospel is famous for its teaching on prayer
• Jesus wants us to "bother" the Father – persistent prayer is a sign of trust
• God wants to give us more than bread – He gives the Bread of Life
• If God gave us everything immediately, we would soon forget Him
• Ask, seek, knock – if you knock, God opens the door to you
• St. Paul's challenge to us today: "Don't you see how much God loves you?"
