Today the Church celebrates the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary – a feast that was originally called Our Lady of Victory. In this episode, Fr. Justus takes us back to 1571 and the Battle of Lepanto, when Pope St. Pius V asked all Christians to pray the Rosary as the Christian fleets of Venice and Spain faced the vast naval forces of the Ottoman Empire. The victory that followed gave this feast its name – and its message still speaks to us today. From Pope Leo praying the Rosary at Lourdes to the Million Children Praying the Rosary campaign for peace, the Rosary goes on. Fr. Justus leaves us with two simple invitations: keep the word "victory" in your heart, and if you've fallen away from the Rosary, now is the time to come back. ✨ Key Takeaways • Our Lady of the Rosary was originally called Our Lady of Victory • The feast commemorates the Battle of Lepanto (1571) under Pope St. Pius V • The Rosary is like a camera – it takes us back to the life, suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus • Whatever difficulty you face – in your family, community or your own life – pray the Rosary • "The family that prays together, stays together" ⏱️ Timeline 0:00 Welcome to A Word of Hope 0:08 Today's Memorial: Our Lady of the Rosary 0:20 The feast's original name – Our Lady of Victory 0:31 The Battle of Lepanto (1571) and Pope St. Pius V 1:31 How the victory was won – the Rosary 1:50 The Rosary today: Pope Leo at Lourdes & a million children praying for peace 2:22 First invitation: keep "victory" in your heart 2:42 Second invitation: come back to the Rosary 3:16 The Rosary as a camera into the life of Jesus 🔔 Subscribe and turn on notifications so you never miss your daily Word of Hope. 👍 If this reflection encouraged you, please like and share it with someone who needs a word of hope today. #OurLadyOfTheRosary #Rosary #AWordOfHope #CatholicReflection #BattleOfLepanto #OurLadyOfVictory #DailyGospel #CatholicFaith #PrayTheRosary #Dominican #MarianDevotion #October7 #CatholicPrayer #FamilyRosary #DailyDevotional #Catholic #BlessedVirginMary #FaithAndHope #ChristianInspiration #PrayForPeace
