Dominican Month for Peace: Cameroon

For the past eight years, the Order has dedicated the Month of Peace to a country affected by violent conflict and human rights violations, drawing the attention of the Dominican family to the challenges faced by our sisters and brothers serving there. The Month of Peace begins on the first Sunday of Advent and continues until Epiphany, offering us a time of prayer and solidarity with members of the Order who are living and ministering under difficult circumstances. This year, the Month of Peace will focus on Cameroon, beginning on the first Sunday of Advent, November 30, 2025.

The people of Cameroon have endured prolonged violent conflict and widespread human rights violations, leading to deep tensions within the country. Many have been forced to flee, seeking refuge in neighboring nations. These ongoing challenges also affect the Church and members of the Dominican family. Further details about the situation in Cameroon will be shared in the coming weeks. For this year’s Month of Peace, the Dominican family in Cameroon has chosen the theme: “Truth and Justice for Lasting Peace.” In the words of Pope Paul VI, “If you want peace, work for justice.” (World Day of Peace, January 1, 1972)

We invite you to organize pastoral activities and public events to promote solidarity and offer prayers for the people of Cameroon. We encourage you to publicize these initiatives and invite your communities, schools, parishes, and friends to take part in raising awareness of the situation in Cameroon. Please also remember in your prayers our sisters and brothers in Haiti, Ukraine, Myanmar, the Holy Land, and all those living in life-threatening circumstances.
